Become a Board Member

Are you passionate about mental health advocacy? Ready to shape the future of support and awareness? Come join our dynamic team of individuals who are committed to fostering inclusivity, innovation, and positive change in mental health initiatives. We are seeking dedicated individuals who have been touched by mental health issues in some way, to join the Board of the NAMI Hennepin County affiliate.

State Legislative Advocacy
The legislative committee is a volunteer group of those living with mental illnesses as well as their families-working to influence legislation and public policies that affect the lives of children and adults living with mental illness, their families, and the professionals who care for them. The Legislative Committee meets monthly and is always looking for more volunteers to help in achieving their vision.

Connections Support Group Facilitator

NAMI’s Connection Recovery Support Group Program is a peer-based, mutual support group for adults living with a mental health condition. These groups provide a place that offers respect, understanding, encouragement, and hope.  It is our vision that every person in this country who lives with a mental health condition will have, within reasonable driving distance, a NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group to attend.  We are currently looking to have more in-person peer support groups in Hennepin County and believe this could be a great support for the community. Connection Recovery Support Group facilitators will be trained by NAMI Minnesota and follow a structured model.

Family Support Group Facilitator

​Family support groups provide ongoing support for families and friends of persons living with mental health symptoms. ​As a facilitator, you will educate, share, and guide individuals on the journey of supporting family and friends living with mental health symptoms that impact their daily life.

We are looking for support group facilitators to serve our diverse communities! If you are If you are bilingual, part of a faith community, a veteran, or from the LGBTQIA+ community, please fill out the form above to learn how we can get your group started!

All NAMI support groups are led by trained co-facilitators who have lived experience with mental illness. 
Groups provide a welcoming, safe, judgment-free space to share challenges, successes, and learn from one another.
Nationally recognized evidence based, peer to peer training provided through NAMI MN.
